A DAY OF COMMUNITY AND CARING ~ The Compassionate Friends 3rd Annual Walk To Remember

Manchester, CT (July 1, 2013) – A DAY OF STATEWIDE COMMUNITY AND CARING - The 3rd Annual WALK TO REMEMBER will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Center Springs Park, Manchester, CT. The WALK TO REMEMBER is sponsored by The Compassionate Friends / East of the River CT Chapter, which is a free support group with no religious affiliation that exists to help and support bereaved families who have experienced the death of a child, grandchild, or sibling of any age, from pre- birth to full maturity, from any cause.

The Day is a beautiful statewide tribute to the memory of children taken too soon and the strength of those left behind.  But it's so much more than just a Shared Walk.  From the Pot Luck Picnic to the Butterfly Release, Music to Memory Boards, 
IT'S A DAY TO CELEBRATE THE HEALING POWER OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT.  
The Walk is free. Check-in and new registration begins at 11:00 am and steps off at Noon. Preregistration on the website (www.WalkToRememberCT.org) is requested. Donations are deeply appreciated and can be made either on our secure website or at The Walk.

People may walk the entire 1.5 -mile route; however, various lengths and surfaces will be available so that all may participate.  Sitting invited, too!  Bikes and dogs on leashes are also welcome!  Following The Walk, a cook-out and potluck picnic will be held beginning at 1:30 pm followed by a

Remembrance Ceremony and Butterfly Release at 2:00/2:30 pm. The Memory Boards will be available for people to post photos of their loved one.

“I hope that all who have experienced this kind of personal tragedy will join us in caring and understanding and will walk with us on July 21, and begin to find hope, comfort and light,“ said Bettie-Jeanne Rivard-Darby, whose own daughter, Robyn April, died in 2008 and the reason she founded the TCF East Of The River CT Chapter. “We love them not as long as they lived,” she said, “but as long as we do.”
