Woodbridge Police Citizens Academy Taking Place

 

Woodbridge Police Department: Citizen’s Police Academy

The Woodbridge Police Department will be hosting a Citizen’s Police Academy beginning February 5th, 2013.

The academy will be held once a week for twelve weeks and is designed to give participants a working knowledge of
police operations. During this academy, participants will be experience hands-on police training and be exposed to the policies and procedures that guide officers in making their day to day decisions.

Participants will be taught the basics of criminal law, patrol procedures, tactics, firearms, and many other topics.

During this training, participants will have the opportunity
to speak directly with patrol officers as well as the command staff of the department that serves them.

Participants will
receive training in the following areas:

  • History of the WPD                                     
  • Department Operations
  • POSTC/Recruit Selection
  • Field Training Program
  • Communications                                         
  • Constitutional Law
  • Arrest/Search Warrants
  • Crime Scene Processing
  • Booking Procedures                                     
  • Patrol Procedures
  • Crime Scene Photography
  • Animal Control
  • Storm Management/Emergency Operations Center
  • D.U.I.
  • Shelter Management                                 
  • Radar/Laser
  • Motor Vehicle Enforcement
  • Firearms/SWAT/Taser/F.A.T.S. (Shoot/Don’t Shoot Simulator)
  • Penal Code
  • Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis
  • Responding to Violence & Aggression
  • School Resource Officer
  • D.A.R.E.
  • Accident Reconstruction
  • Narcotics/K-9

**All participants over the age of 18 who complete at least 5 weeks of training will be allowed to participate in a live
fire range day and Ride-Along program.

Applications may be picked up at the front desk of the Woodbridge Police Department and must be returned
by no later than Friday January 18th, 2013.

The club added new kiddie pool with new splash feature and sun shades. The club has a new full courtRead More basketball court with adjacent smaller court for younger children. Also added a volleyball court in back field. The club is offering this year a kids program for members. Come and see.
