Matthew Fortney Elected to the Board of Directors of the Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut

New Haven (November 20, 2013) – Robert H. Motley, Chairman of the Board of the Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut (VNA/SCC) serving the Greater New Haven area, recently announced that Matthew Fortney of Naugatuck, CT was elected to the Board of Directors for the VNA/SCC, a non-profit, community-based home health agency that provides high quality health care services in the home and communities it serves. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, Matt will also serve on the Finance Committee. “We are delighted to have an individual with extensive financial experience serve on our Board and Finance Committee. His knowledge of nonprofit Board responsibilities along with his commitment to the mission of the VNA/SCC to provide the best services to every patient every day in the comfort of their home will be a positive addition to our Board. As a Naugatuck resident he will also bring a local perspective to the needs of our Naugatuck Valley patients since the VNA /SCC is the original VNA of the valley,” said John R. Quinn, President/CEO of VNA/SCC.

Matt is currently a financial planner with Barnum Financial Group, An Office of MetLife in Shelton, CT. He earned his undergraduate degree from Sacred Heart University and his MBA from the University of Connecticut. Matt is a frequent guest host of Smart Money Radio on WICC and has written a financial column for the Naugatuck Patch. 

Matt has been a Naugatuck resident since 1999 and is heavily involved in his community. He is Chairman of the Naugatuck Education Foundation and sits on the Executive Boards of the Naugatuck YMCA and Rotary Club of Naugatuck.  Additionally, he is a member of the Sacred Heart University Alumni Board, the finance board for St. Vincent Ferrer Church and coaches baseball in the Naugatuck Babe Ruth league.
