Bethany's Farmers Market: What's all the Hoopla About?

It's all about the hoops at What's the Hoopla, LLC at the market.

Bring the Hoopla, LLC is not your standard farmer’s market fare. Handmade hoops? What’s the connection? Turns out it’s health, and hooping has become a very trendy exercise choice for people in the know.

Nicole Heriot, who co-owns Bring the Hoopla with friends Jen DeBlasio and Jackie Ribalaigua, started the company for fun and fitness.

“We were hooping at music festivals,” Heriot said. “There is a huge, beautiful community of hoopers, especially on the West Coast.”

It’s a positive activity, she said, that parents and kids can do together.

“We do hooping fitness classes in Shelton,” Heriot said, “as well as birthday parties and all other kinds of parties.”

It's quite a draw every Saturday morning, with children and their parents unable to resist the stacks of brightly-colored hoops.

The partners make all their hoops by hand and embellish them with multicolored tape. They can make them to order, with customers specifying size, weight and color.

Stop by the Bethany’s Farmers Market and see what all the Hoopla is about!

(Yes, this editor bought a huge hoop for her mini horse to jump through as she had grown too chubby for the normal size one, but we have become somewhat addicted to hooping ourselves . . . definitely look forward to a few minutes of it after chores every afternoon!)

The Bethany’s Farmers Market is every Saturday through September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the airport grounds, weather permitting.

Stop by and say hello at the Bethwood Patch booth on Sat. August 27!
