February break held a special treat for Bethany school children - a visit from Bob Weber, a famous cartoonist who is widely known for his comic strip Slylock Fox and Comics for Kids that appears in over 400 newspapers and is enjoyed by children everywhere.
Weber held a cartooning workshop at the and spoke to a packed house. Dozens of children sat at tables, following instructions and producing cartoons of their very own.
As the children focused on their work, one of the adults assisiting said, "Don't worry if you run out of paper, we have plenty more!"
Weber showed them how to start with simple shapes such as cirlces and ovals and add simple lines to make them into all kinds of animals and even people.
The children were enthralled as they learned how to make their cartoon ice look shiny and animals look wiggly. The parents standing on the sidelines looked just as interested as their kids.
The Clark Memorial Library holds many programs for children and adults throughout the year. Check the Bethwood Patch events listing to make sure you don't miss any of their offerings.
