Family Disheartened by Theft of Baby Jesus From Nativity Scene

Fairwood Road couple asks the question, "Who does that?"

What kind of person would steal the Baby Jesus from a nativity scene? That's the question Eric and Pam Pero of Fairwood Road in Bethany would love someone to answer. For five years the couple has set up their lit nativity at the end of their driveway.

The display, Pam said, is kept up through the Feast of Epiphany, Jan. 6, and they planned to take it down the following weekend.

"Somebody stole our baby Jesus from our nativity on Epiphany," Pam said.  "I'm so upset. Who does that?"

"There’s never been a problem before this year," Pam said. "In fact, a lot of people tell us that they love seeing it every year and that it reminds them of the real story of Christmas as they drive by."

Pam said the money is not the issue.

"It was a set we bought at Wal-Mart on sale," she said. "It’s just the whole point of somebody actually stealing the baby Jesus from a nativity scene – I just think it’s awful."

If anyone has any idea who may have stolen the statue, drop us an email here at kathleen.schurman@patch.com. Or, just return it to where it was, and the Peros will be happy to have it back.
