All area laddies and lassies are warmly invited to the "Luck o’ the Irish Fair and Tag Sale" on Sat., May 12,by Christ Episcopal Church, 526 Amity Rd., Bethany. Held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the popular annual event features amazing bargains, fabulous traditional Irish food, unparalleled finds, and nifty raffles. And that’s no blarney, according to Jan Kershner and Mary Karoll, co-chairs of the day-before - Mother’s Day extravaganza.

An indoor Irish luncheon menu features corned beef and cabbage, vegetarian Irish stew, cottage pie, homemade clam chowder, and shamrock strawberry shortcake for dessert. An outdoor barbecue stars hot dog and hamburgers with chili and sauerkraut toppings.

Recycled discoveries at recession-busting prices are plentiful at the giant tag sale, vintage and costume jewelry emporium, "twice nice" ladies’ clothing boutique, and country home decor shop.

Mother’s Day presents for Mom or Grandma can be found at the garden plants stall starring shamrocks in addition to perennials and annuals. Additional gifts abound at the craft booth featuring numerous one-of-a-kind handcrafted items.

The silent auction boasts treasures from the past and present. Raffle baskets for Mother, Father, and The Family are filled with desirable gift certificates, and a fourth overflows with special presents for the entire family, many imported from Ireland.

The bakery-candy booth stars Irish bread, shamrock-shaped sugar cookies, plates of chocolate chip cookies made from a variety of recipes, luscious baked goods of all varieties, and creamy homemade fudge.

Children will enjoy Craftland which features four creative Irish projects for five to 12 year- olds plus the Pocket Lady who has Irish trinkets and green surprises in her grab bag apron.

The event will be held rain or shine. There’s free parking and no entrance fee. Come and be Irish for a day!
