Film Discussion Series at Woodbridge Library

Mark Schenker will give an introduction to the "reading" of film with lectures on three classic films of the 1950's -- Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954), John Ford's The Searchers (1956), and Billy Wilder's Some Like it Hot (1959) -- and on Quentin Tarentino's Inglourious Basterds (2009).

A consideration of some basic elements of film -- including narrative, point of view and editing -- will be joined to a consideration of genre as we learn what a suspense film, a western, and a comedy can teach us about film in general and the significance of Tarentino's latest film in particular.
