A wistful and enchantingly sweet comedy that overflows
with humor and unpredictable tribulation, "Southern Comforts" follows a budding romance between Gus, a crusty and cantankerous old New Jersey widower played by Al Kulcsar, and Amanda, a feisty, saucy and outgoing Southern widow played by Alice McMahon.

Recovering from years of loss of their respective spouses, Amanda is used to getting her own way and Gus, the retired, set-in-his-ways Yankee find in each other what they least expected: a second chance at love.

Tickets are: $20 for adult single tickets, $19 for senior citizens and students. To reserve tickets call the box office 24/7 at 203.375.8778.

The New York Times calls it "a delightful and sneakily sexy romance!"

Playwright Kathleen Clark will attend the Friday, March 16 performance and participate in a post-performance discussion with the actors, director and members of the audience.

Working behind the scenes are Stratford's Annette B. Versage (stage manager), Judy Keegan (assistant to the director), Catrina Fox (costumes) and Don Henault (sound); Fairfield's Al Kulcsar (set); plus Milford's Cliff Fava (lights).

We saw Southern Comforts on its second night. Great play, wonderfully produced and performed. Square One continues to be a local gem and a bargain at that!

I have tickets, and as a retired former New Jersey-ite, I am looking forward to another enjoyable performance of the Square One Theatre. dave
