Surreybrook School 5 Year Anniversary

A Letter From Our Director and Owner of Surreybrook School

Almost seven years ago, I started with a dream to build a preschool program where children would receive nurturing care in a family-type atmosphere while receiving the educational foundation necessary to become life-long learners.  After a few false starts, I finally found a building in Bethany where I believed I could make my vision a reality.  On November 3, 2008, Surreybrook Preschool opened its doors with 2 teachers and 8 children ranging in age from 6 months to four years.  The last of these eight children graduated this past summer.  Needless to say, tears were shed!

Thanks to a lot of hard work and dedication, an amazing faculty and administration, and especially the confidence and support of our families, we have become what Surreybrook School is today.

These last five years have seen much growth and many changes, both for Surreybrook and for myself personally.  And through it all, the support and confidence of the families served by the faculty and staff of Surreybrook has been a blessing to me.  I am honored to have had the opportunity to know and grow to love the children who have and continue to be students at Surreybrook School.   My heart is joyful whenever I hear a kindergarten teacher tell me that they know when there is a "Surreybrook kid" in their classroom.

This year, Surreybrook School started our own multi-age program for children five through seven! I am so excited to be able to continue with my vision of providing children with the skills necessary to be life-long learners.  And, of course, a thank you to those families that have embarked with us upon this amazing journey as well.  It is my dream for the future to take the vision I had for Surreybrook seven years ago and be able to bring it to children and their families through all primary grades.  We have so many exciting plans to grow Surreybrook School over the next several months including erecting a barn in our Nature's classroom come spring and continue the dream......
