Amity Band 'Terra Firma' to Battle it Out on Saturday at Toad's Pace

Make plans to cheer on your hometown boys and help them win a chance to have their music played on WPLR.

Toad’s Place in New Haven may be “where the legends play,” but this coming Sunday afternoon, it’s also where one young band from Amity will play in L.A. Production’s Battle of the Bands.

students Pat Williams of Woodbridge, Tyler Ryan, James Bonvicini and Aaron O’Niel from Orange, and Rob Zielinski of Bethany call their alternative rock band Terra Firma. This weekend, they will pit themselves against area bands Attempting Fate and The Distractions for a chance to compete in the final battle next weekend.

Until now, the band has only played local events like the Bethany Family Harvest Festival, playing almost entirely original music aside from a few covers by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Strokes. The battle this weekend will consist of all original music.

So far, six bands have competed, three each for the past several weeks, and the winner of each will play in the finals on Feb. 4. The bands are judged on three areas: talent, originality and audience participation, so the boys are urging members of the Amity community to come out and cheer them on.

The ultimate winners recieve recording time, a cash prize and will have one of their songs played on WPLR.
