Bethany Horse Show Rides Into Town

The Bethany Lions Club and the Sleeping Giant Pony Club co-sponsor the 25th annual competition.

Horse lovers across the region were treated to a day full of clopping and whinnying on Sunday as the Old Bethany Airport hosted the 25th annual Bethany Horse Show.

The competition, sponsored by the Bethany Lions Club and the Sleeping Giant Pony Club, began at 8 a.m. amidst favorable weather conditions.

Hunters, Jumpers, Morgans, Arabians, Carriage Driving, English and Western Equitation and Pleasure were all displayed on Sunday. The show was split into two sand rings, which alternated events throughout the day. The show began in the North Ring, which contained fences for jumping and featured Hunter/Jumpers and Hunt Equitation. The North Ring was judged by Diane Hatt of Warwick, NJ. The South Ring contained no fences and was home to the Breeds, Western, Driving and Pleasures. It was judged by Camille Pepin of North Smithfield, RI.

The Bethany Horse Show was open to all riders regardless of club affiliation. Medals, however, were only awarded to those in the Connecticut Horse Show Association, the Connecticut Horse Jumping Association and the New England Horse Council.
