Bethany Rid Litter Weekend is April 16 and April 17

Keep Bethany green, starting with your own front yard!

To All Bethany Residents:

Spring is finally here. The snow has melted, the crocuses are in bloom, and litter is back. Once again, it's time to keep Bethany beautiful by participating in Rid Litter Weekend on Saturday April 16 and Sunday April 17. This is Bethany's annual "Spring Cleaning" weekend which always coincides with national Earth Day (April 22) and Bethany's own Earth Day Celebration held at the Town Hall on April 9. The Beautiful Bethany Committee wants to remind citizens to go outside on Rid Litter Weekend (or at any other convenient time) to collect litter from their property and their neighborhood for inclusion in their regular curbside pickup.  The cans, bottles and other recyclables may be brought to the Bethany Recycling Center on Amity Road.

Let's keep Bethany's geen country roads green. Just taking a short walk to pick up litter will be helpful.  Many community organizations adopt a park, a trail, a wooded spot, or a specific area of town that needs special attention. As always, children need to be supervised by an adult and it's best to wear gloves, long sleeves, pants, and shoes with socks. For safety reasons, the Committee doesn't recommend litter collection on heavily-trafficked streets and thoroughfares. If bulky items or significant sites are discovered, just report the location to Pat Stewart at 393-0364 who will coordinate with the town for pick up. For further information, contact Elizabeth Appel at 393-1794.
