Country Club of Woodbrige Rolls Out New Camp Program

Junior golf camps will run all summer long

A lovely mild March brought a great start to the golfing season at the Country Club of Woodbridge, and though April is trying to put a damper on the momentum, the new management won't have it.

The club has 146 members, 93 of whom are residents of the town of Woodbridge. Jason Beffert, General Manager at the club, told the Woodbridge Board of Selectmen at a meeting last night that he expects a big jump in memberships, especially pool memberships, closer to Memorial Day.

The club has a new focus on kids wth a new Kids Rec Camp that runs 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Thursday through the summer. Each session costs $275 and includes 12 hours of professional golf instruction, games every day, daily prizes and awards and a tee prize and lunch given on the last day of the session.

Participants will learn rules and etiquette; grip, aim and stance; as well as full-swing, putting and chipping. An Intermediate Golf Camp runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Cost for both Junior Golf Camps is $200.

The club will also offer a junior tennis program, but details are not available yet.

The club is looking great, according to Woodbridge selectmen. "The greens are mowed every single day," says Beffert. "We have to take the good with the bad, because of the rain the course is in great shape and green, but there's no golf."

Woodbridge First Selectman Edward Sheehy said he's happy with the progress made at the club. "The course is looking better than it has in years."

Management from the Country Club of Woodbridge presents an update to the Board of Selectmen each month.
