Fun Night Planned for Middle Schoolers

Semi-formal dance is annual event

Woodbridge Youth Services and the Town of Bethany is sponsoring its annual Semi-Formal Dance for 7th and 8th grade residents on Friday, May 4th, 2012. The event takes place at the Woodbridge Center Building Gym at 4 Meetinghouse Lane from 7:00 to 9:30 pm.

"We give them this opportunity to be face-to-face in a safe, drug-free environment. So many kids think they're being social being on Facebook or sitting home and chatting in whichever way they can and that doesn't replace the face-to-face time," says Jeanette Glicksman, an organizer of the dance.

"Our goal is to provide a place for kids to be social," Glicksman says. "Otherwise they'd be sitting home."

The gym is transformed with cool decorations, Black Lights, and exciting entertainment by a DJ. There will also be trivia games, contests, and glow in the dark face paint.

Hot hors d’oeuvres and desserts from local restaurants will be offered and the night will feature fun raffle prizes. Photos will be available for $1.00 each and roses will be available for $1.00 each from Roses for Autism. Dates and dancing are not required but fun is. This dance is not meant to promote dating. Middle schoolers are encouraged to come with their friends and have some good old-fashioned fun.
