Meeting Mania Part 3: Town of Woodbridge Budget Hearing

With a proposed tax decrease, Woodbridge taxpayers didn't have much to complain about last night

In the last of three meetings involving Woodbridge spending last night, the town presented its spending plan to taxpayers. The budget actually received a shout out, "Good job!" and round of applause at the close of the meeting, which took place at the Center Gym and attracted about 75 residents and town department heads.

After a brief address by First Selectman Edward Sheehy, Woodbridge Finance Director Anthony Genovese and Board of Finance Chairman Matthew Giglietti presented the budget, explaining that the town government portion of the operating budget fell by 1.12%. The total budget carries a 0.63% increase once the Woodbridge and Amity Boards of Education are factored in.

The Preliminary General Fund Operating Budget for FY12 is $42,401,551, an increase of $263,723 over the FY11 budget. To support the budget, the mill rate will be set at 33.10, a 0.03% decrease from the FY11 mill rate of 33.11.
