Now Open: The Country Club at Woodbridge
New club management isn't wasting any time with winter opening
The green may not quite be green, but that's not stopping the Country Club of Woodbridge from opening for a late-winter stint. Long before the temperatures reached record levels over the past couple of weeks, new club manager Jason Beffert decided to offer special winter rates.
Beffert joined the club this winter after the contract with the former managing company ended. He has been a PGA member since 2007 and spent the past four years as head golf pro at Lyman Orchards, which is managed by the same company that now manages the Woodbridge club, Billy Casper Golf.
"We're trying to get the golf course back to the condition that it once was in," explains Beffert. "We want to get the greens and the fairways back in good shape, strengthen the grass and get it back to a qood quality golf course."

"It's known throughout the state as one of the better designed courses, so we want to bring it back to those playing conditions," he says.
The club is offering introductory pricing and is looking at this trial to find the balance between a low membership price and a strong membership base. The a la (golf) carte menu will offer seven-day per week memberships, weekday memberships and a twilight membership.

"We think that's going to be popular," says Beffert. "It's $900 for Woodbridge residents and $1,100 if you're not, for golf seven days a week after 1 p.m."
The seven-day unlimited membership is $1,700 for residents and $2,100 for non-residents. For pricing on all membership packages, please visit http://countryclubofwoodbridge.com/.
Around 30 members have already signed up and the course was mowed Thursday. The club is also offering memberships for the pool and tennis.
"We're seeing some action with this warm weather," says Beffert. "We're excited to be here. I'm looking forward to meeting everybody!"
The club is interviewing for food and beverage managers and Beffert anticipates food and beverages will be available within the next month.
