Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Annual Celebration Held at Woodbridge Fire Department

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be taking a few hours off from their Christmas preparations 'up north' to meet children at the Woodbridge Volunteer Fire House Saturday afternoon. Arriving at noon with all the lights and sirens they can muster up, Santa and the Mrs. will be available until 3 p.m. for photos (don't forget your camera!) and any last minute requests from area children.

Many Woodbridge volunteer firemen will there, showing kids the fire trucks and handing out coloring books, hats and badges.

"It's important for us to be here," says Fire Chief Andrew Esposito. "It's about community spirit and it lets people interact with the fire department in a happy way. So many times we only see them in a time of need."

The volunteer firemen have a busy few days planned. Tonight, they'll be out with sirens and lights ablaring while they deliver donated gifts to about 10 families in Woodbridge. "It's in the spirit of the season," Esposito says.

The fire department will also be fielding letters to Santa before the big guy arrives Saturday. Children are encouraged to drop a last minute reminder to Santa about how good he or she has been this year to santa@woodbridgefire.com.

Donations of unwrapped toys to benefit the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital aer gladly accepted at any time of the day or night through Dec. 22 at the fire house.

All are welcome to attend this event and reservations are not required.
