Special Dogs Up For Adoption

Just in time for Halloween, these two beautiful Korean Sapsarees are said to fend off ghosts and evil spirits

Woodbridge Animal Control has available for adoption two dogs whose breed is rarely seen in this country. Marion and Cosmo are Korean Sapsaree dogs, best known for their loyalty.

The Sapsaree line was contaminated by the Japanese during their occupation of Korea during World War II and, consequently, is not recognized by the AKC. It is common for a Sapsaree female to have Sapsaree and Akita offspring in the same litter. Sapsaree were originally bred as "house dogs" and are friendly to humans by the nature of the breed. Traditionally, these dogs were believed to dispel ghosts and evil spirits.

Marion, in her natural coat, is the breeding female and her son Cosmo was groomed for sale before their owners decided to release both to WAC.

Marion is a three-year-old 60-pound female Korean Sapsaree dog, black and tan with brown eyes. Marion is a little barky at first but warms up right away. She's then very friendly, attentive and enjoys human company. Ms. Kerby has that "shaggy dog" look and, with her personality, could star in a Disney movie. She will need obedience training including leash work and a lot of love and patience. She has the potential to be a fantastic companion.

Cosmo is a 15-month-old 70-pound male Korean Sapsaree dog, grey and white with brown eyes. Cos is a little barky at first but warms up right away. He's then very friendly, attentive and enjoys human company. He is very strong for his size, very athletic, very agile, fast and oh so fluid. He will need obedience training including leash work, exercise and a lot of love and patience. Cosmo also has the potential to be a fantastic companion.
