Connecticut Light & Power reports that 9 percent (222 customers) in Bethany are without power as of 10 p.m. In Woodbridge, United Illuminating reports that only six customers – or less than 1 percent of the town – are lacking electricity.

CL&P says that the bulk of the damage has been to Litchfield County and more than 18,000 customers have had their power restored so far today.

“A line of heavy wind is moving west to east with peak gusts of 55 to 65 mph possible…however dry, clear weather is expected on Wednesday,” CL&P spokesperson Mitch Gross said in a pre-recorded message on the company’s media hotline.

Locally, fallen trees are a hazard. A toppled tree on Beecher Road in Woodbridge, near the intersection of Manville Road, is blocking the way.
