Thanksgiving Food Drives Need Your Help
Days before Thanksgiving, some organizations are still taking last-minute donations.
The holidays are a time of giving, and here’s exactly where and when to help the needy have some comforts this season.
If you plan on donating, here are the most-needed items according to the Connecticut Food Bank.
- Frozen turkeys (8-10 lbs.)
- Canned ham
- $10 grocery store gift card
- Dry stuffing mix (box or package)
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fruit
- Cranberry sauce
- Canned yams
- Bottled/canned gravy
- Dry & canned beans
- Rice

The Branford Food Pantry on 30 Harrison Ave. needs frozen turkeys.

Turkey drive at the on 1750 Huckins Road.
When: Tuesday and Wednesday Nov. 22 & 23 10am-3pm
Who will it help: St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, Waterbury
East Haven
Turkey drive at on 355 Foxon Road.
When: Underway until November 20. Drop off frozen turkeys in the church hall from 9a.m.-noon
Who will it help: It will benefit clients of Catholic Charities in greater New Haven.
East Haven
Food drive at the on 150 Bradley. Turkeys and nonperishable items wanted.
When: Until Nov. 20 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
Who will it help: People from all over the state
Milford
A virtual drive where you can donate money online on the That House in Milford website.
Who it will help: The Connecticut Food Bank
North Haven
Bring fresh fruits and vegetables to add to the cornucopia at the communion table at the on 28 Church St.
When: Mass is Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Who it will help: The food will go to a local soup kitchen.
