Volunteers Honored at Annual Tea
Woodbridge Human Services honored 134 at afternoon event
Woodbridge Human Services recognized 134 volunteers at its 23rd annual volunteer tea last week. Each year, individuals are recognized for their time and dedication in the senior center and at events throughout the year.
Tony Anastasio was one of three residents given a special awards. He was recognized for his work with the town's youth evening program.
"Tony always looks for ways to improve the program," said Human Services Director Mary Ellen Larocca. "We appreciate his kindness and his willing spirit."

Colleen Kin was honored for her dedication as a volunteer at the senior center where she serves lunch. She serves on various committees and was recognized with a citation and a plaque for her compassion and willingness to always help with a smile.
One business was also recognized for its service to the Woodbridge community. Home Instead Senior Care president Andy Clifford received honors for "providing a progam that keeps seniors safe in their community," according to Larocca. His company ran the Food for Thought program recently, which focused on easy and nutritious meal ideas for one or two people.

First Selectman Edward Sheehy presented a very special honor to Amity High School student Ashley Blume.
"It is a special honor to give Ashley the youth award since I've known her grandfather for more years than I want to admit," Sheehy said. "I'm proud of her sincere efforts in the community and she is most deserving of this award."
