Wells Fargo Donates $1,000 to Woodbridge Fire Department

Annual donations are given locally

When staff at Wells Fargo's Amity Rd. branch began asking for nominations to receive their annual $1,000 grant, one group's name kept popping up: the Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department.

"Every year, Wells Fargo presents a $1,000 grant to 155 non-profits. Each branch gets to choose a non-profit that they want to donate to," explains Setha Sou, Store Manager for the Amity Rd. branch. "We wanted to keep it local, so we asked our customers and the Woodbridge Fire Department kept coming up."

Sou and her staff voted on all of the suggestions and WVFD came out on top.

"I went down to the fire department and met with the fire chief and we decided to move forward with giving the grant to them," she says.

There are no parameters regarding how the money should be spent. The grant was part of a program through which every branch in New York and Connecticut chooses a non-profit to donate the grant to each summer. Wells Fargo invested $1.5 million in non-profit organizations and team members logged over 9,000 of volunteer hours last year.
