Lions Club Annual Auction

The is hosting its annual Friday, March 16. The club is relying on community support to raise funds for the five $1,000 scholarships it awards to high school students each year. Viewing is at 6:00 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7:00.

This event marks the 26th annual Bethany Lions Club’s Charity Auction, held at Bethany Town Hall, 40 Peck Road. All funds raised during this live auction will benefit for Bethany high school seniors.

Highlights to be auctioned include golf foursomes at the Yale Golf Course, The Farms Country Club and several other local courses, a weekend away on Martha’s Vineyard, a number of Greenwich Workshop prints and a collectible Super Bowl 46 football made at the game. Other items up for auction: a last will and testament, (yes, you read that correctly) gift baskets and numerous gift certificates from local restaurants and businesses including service stations and Restopedic and much more!

AHS Presents Big Shot!

On Friday, March 16, American Idol contestant Gabi Carubba will join the renowned Billy Joel tribute band "Big Shot" during their performance at , 25 Newton Road, Woodbridge.

This show will be a fundraiser for the Amity Theater Department.  All proceeds will go to benefit the students representing Amity at the Edinburgh International Theater Festival in August 2012. Youth Laser Tag

Come celebrate the end of the CMTs at a Youth Services Program: Laser Tag with raffle prizes, snacks and music. Event is open to seventh and eighth graders from Bethany and Woodbridge. Cost is $5. Hairspray in Milford

It’s time to let your hair down and dance the night away! Hairspray, Broadway’s musical comedy phenomenon is coming to Jonathan Law High School when The Jonathan Law High School Drama Club Proudly Presents HAIRSPRAY the Musical March 16 and 17at 7pm and March 18 at 3pm. Be swept away to 1960s Baltimore in this fantastically fun international smash-hit musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter and romance — and enough deliriously tuneful songs to fill a nonstop platter party. It’s Hairspray, live on stage, in living color! .

A Taste of Summer

The Bethany Winter Farmer's Market continues this weekend at Bethany Town Hall, 40 Peck Rd. The market runs from 10am to 1pm and features local meat, fish and eggs, cheese, fruits and vegetables, honey, maple syrup, bake goods, candles, relish, home canned goods and soaps. Saturday Storycraft

Children ages 3-5 are invited to the Woodbridge Town Library at 10 Newton Rd. for a Saturday Storycraft, which features age-appropriate story and craft activities. The event is free and runs from 11-11:45am.

Resurrecting Hebrew

Ilan Stavans, Professor in Latin American and Latino Culture at Amherst College, will be speaking about his book Resurrecting Hebrew, the story of how Hebrew was rescued from obsolescence to become the language of a modern nation. Variety Show Brought Back to Life

Temple Beth Sholom holds a variety Show: Tonight is Going to be a Good Night Saturday, March 17 at 7:30. It has been nine years since the Temple Beth Sholom Players have put on a musical review. With the addition of some new players, the group of fourteen under the direction of Steve Schulefand are excited about this new and different production. Rabbi Scolnic will appear with the group - singing, dancing, emphasizing the importance of Jewish humor in all of our lives. My Mexican Shiva

CJLL will be hosting a special screening of the film Morirse Esta En Hebrero, My Mexican Shiva (2007). The film, which is based on Ilan Stavans’ novella of the same name is about Jewish life in Mexico at the time of the 2000 presidential election.
