Mingrone was involved in a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of North Pease and Center roads on the afternoon of March 7. He had to be extricated from his 2005 Toyota, police said.

The other driver was transported to the hospital too, but she has since been released.

'Help Mike Battle Back'

An online fundraiser has been established for Mingrone, to help defray some of his medical expenses.

"So many people have asked what we can do to help? The obvious is continue to pray for his speedy recovery," the website states. "Additionally I thought we could do this fundraiser to help defray some of Mike's medical expenses while he continues to fight back from this terrible accident."

To date, the page has raised nearly $6,000 — about 60% of the goal — through individual contributions ranging from $20 to $500.

Among the notes left by those who have contributed are these:

"The greatest healing therapy is family, freinds and love. Mike you are surrounded by all of these."

"Dear Michael, I wish I could afford your entire bill but please accept this. We love you so much! Hang in there our sweet boy."

The website also contains a page where folks can give Mike a "hug" and leave a note. Here's a link to the website.
