Woodbridge Seeks Developer for Adult Housing

A property tour on the land adjacent to the Country Club of Woodbridge is scheduled for Aug. 2.

The town of Woodbridge is requesting from qualified developers Expressions of Interest (EOI) in a town‐owned 17‐acre property next to the .

The town has set three restrictions on the project: Any development must be an age-restricted, 55‐and‐older community; Priority will be given to qualified Woodbridge resident devleopers; Entry to any proposed development must be from Woodfield Road.

The property sits on a ridge bordered by the Country Club of Woodbridge golf course to the west and south, private residences and Ansonia Road/Fountain Street (Route 243) to the north and Woodfield Road and the woods of southern Woodbridge to the east.

A development on this site would enjoy views over the golf course and pleasant wooded views of the surrounding landscape, according to the EOI.

A site visit and pre‐submission conference are scheduled for August 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. Submitters are urged to attend as answers to questions raised on the tour will not be distributed afterward. Attendees should meet in the Country Club of Woodbridge lower parking lot, off of Woodfield Road at the southern edge of the site.

Submissions are due by August 24, 2011, at 3p.m, delivered to EOI Submissions, 11 Meetinghouse Lane, Woodbridge, CT 06525, Attention: Tony Genovese.

If this gets built it will likely kill the Bradley Road "Woodbridge Village" senior town homes project- because there is just so much need for these units. So maybe the town should buy that land and build some ball fields.

What a great idea. This will add to the tax base with minimal impact on town expenses. It will provide senior citizens an option for continuing to live in Woodbridge in an residence better suited to their needs and without all the burdens of the big old house. Regretably, Bethany passed up such an opportunity a few years ago.
