Youth Services Provides Teen-Focused Summer Lineup

Babysitting and other courses are offered this summer.

Home Alone Course Scheduled for August 9

Woodbridge Youth Services will hold a Home Alone Course on Tuesday, August 9 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. in Room 16 of the Center Building at 4 Meetinghouse Lane. This course is for residents, ages 9–12 and costs $10 which includes materials and a snack. Please register by calling 203-389-3429. Space is limited.

American Red Cross Babysitter Training - August 11-12

Woodbridge Youth Services offers a 2-day course in babysitting to Woodbridge residents, ages 12–15, on Wednesday, Aug. 10 and Thursday, Aug. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. An American Red Cross-trained instructor teaches child care, positive discipline, leadership, and basic first aid. Tuition is $57 for residents. Each student receives an American Red Cross babysitter’s handbook, a DVD, and a first aid booklet. Attendees receive a Babysitter’s Training Certificate upon completion. Each student must bring a lunch; Youth Services provides snacks. Classes will be held at the Woodbridge Center Building, Room 16, at 4 Meetinghouse Lane.

Seventh Grade Picnic/Giant Slide - Youth Evening Program - August 25

Seventh grade residents of Woodbridge and Bethany - this is your picnic! Woodbridge Youth Services and the Town on Bethany sponsor a picnic for the incoming seventh graders each year…the time has come for this year’s event! This awesome picnic is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 25 from 5-7 p.m. on the Woodbridge Green near the gazebo on Meetinghouse Lane. Entry fee is $5; invitees are strictly seventh grade residents of Woodbridge and Bethany, no exceptions, please.

The Youth Evening Program offers the Giant Slide, pizza, and games. Each program includes an interactive DJ, dancing and a free raffle. Don’t miss the chance to see your old friends or make new ones. Amity dress code applies. Rain brings the party inside the Center Building Gym. Please call 203-389-3429 to register for this event.

Parents, grandparents, and local businesses managers: youth evening programs are designed to give our young teens a fun, safe, social event. We need your help! Each event requires planning, phone calls, e-mails, food, prizes, financial support and chaperones. Please call 203-389-3429 to offer your assistance or make a donation to this great cause.

Woodbridge Job Bank

The Woodbridge Job Bank is looking for young residents between the ages of 12 and 16 who are interested in earning some money. If you want to do yard work, office work, child care, pet care, housework, or party help, please call us at 203-389-3429 to join the Job Bank. We’ll help you find work with Woodbridge residents who need a hand around the home or office.  It’s a great way to gain work experience close to home.

Do We Have A Babysitter For You? Need Help With The Yard Work?

The Woodbridge Job Bank has numerous teenagers who are experienced in babysitting. Many have completed the American Red Cross Babysitters Training Course. If you are a Woodbridge resident and would like more information about babysitters, call Woodbridge Youth Services at 203-389-3429. We also have teens who do yard work, housecleaning, and pet care, and other odd jobs.
