Teens Giving Back to Their Community!!

The teens have started participation in an activity with a Homeless Outreach Ministry called ARMS OF HOPE.  On the last Saturday of each month, a group of teens goes to the New Haven Green with the Outreach Ministry and hands out sack lunches, coffee, clothing and encouragement to the homeless of our community.  Throughout the month, they collect donations of socks, coats, clothing, and toiletries that are given to anyone in need while we are there.  There are a group of kids that brings their guitars and plays music, both by request, and from their playlist to entertain and provide a distraction for those less fortunate.  This past month, the boys met a gentleman that once played in a well-known SKA band.  He came upon difficult times and now lives in a shelter in New Haven.  He spent 2 hours talking music with the boys and told them that it was the first time he had felt like smiling in over a month.   It is encounters like this one, that makes the kids know that what they are doing makes a difference.  We are accepting donations of

  • Men & Women Summer Shirts, Pants, Jeans, Sneakers, Flip Flops, Light Jackets, Sweaters and Sweatshirts
  • New Socks size Men 9-11 and 10-13.
  • New Men’s Boxers and Women’s Underwear various sizes.
  • Toilet paper, Tissue Packs, Feminine products and Shaving products
  • A case of bottled water.

Please contact Jen at 203-668-9348 to make arrangements to drop off any donations or come by the ATC during any of our regular business hours that are posted on our website.  www.Amityteencenter.org
