Happy, Healthy Holidays from Massaro Community Farm!

As the farm enters its fifth year, we are fortunate to celebrate continued abundance. As Executive Director, I count myself privileged to grow along with the organization.  Reflecting back on the year is a great exercise; it allows us to review our successes and setbacks, and to set our sights on where we'd like to be. Read our full 2013 report here.

We have been able to accomplish so much because area residents - people like you - have supported our dedication. Individuals, business owners, congregations and community groups have rallied to make our work possible.

Massaro Community Farm exists, in large part, to help provide solutions to these problems by donating produce from the farm to local hunger relief organizations such as Columbus House, Woodbridge Senior Services, the Salvation Army in Ansonia, BH Care, Jewish Family Services and the Connecticut Food Bank. In 2013, our food donations will exceed 8,000 pounds (4 tons). This locally grown organic food is much appreciated. As Ana Bachleda from the Salvation Army recently told us: "We love the produce from Massaro. Our clients love the produce and take lots of it. Fresh healthy food is what they need and what we're able to give them, thanks to the farm." Massaro Community Farm also exists to provide educational experiences for people of all ages in the areas of healthy food and sustainable agriculture, as well as being a place where we can build community through events and neighborly connections. Won't you join us in our mission?

We look forward to serving the community in 2014! Happy and safe holidays to all our valley neighbors.
