Bethany Farmers Market Opens its 4th Summer Season

Update on activities at the Bethany Farmers Market- a community activity

It was a wonderful summer day at the old Bethany airport. The vendors were setting up for the Farmers Market near where the Lions club was holding their popular flea market. I looked around and realized that this season, most of the vendors were from Bethany or towns nearby. Michael with  homegrown cut flowers, Larry and Tom's  crispy Kale snacks, Alan and his family with local vegetables from their backyard farm, and Marsha with her recycled bottles, just to name a few.

The Market has turned into a place for local folks to show their talents, and for other locals to come and find surprises in their own backyard. It made me wonder how many more people are growing produce or making things that they could be sharing with other members of the community. That has been one of the joys of managing the Bethany Farmers market, watching the local community discover itself and all it has to offer. We are just getting started.
