Gerald Wynston Jackson, 85, of Bethany died on Dec. 20, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of Jeanette Massini Jackson.
In addition to his wife, is survived by his daughters Jennifer Jackson Torrens and her husband Vincent Torrens and Tracey Jackson Fiske and her husband Dean Fiske, his two grandchildren Ethan and Spencer and his sister Glenys and brother in law Keith Bradbury, who reside in Coventry UK.
Jerry was born in Wednesbury, England on June 21, 1927 and attended Denstone College in Staffordshire, England. He came to the US in 1960 and began working at Becton Dickinson in Canaan, CT.
He was a mechanical engineer who was an innovator and worked for the company for over 30 years. This is where he met "his lovely bride" Jeanette. He would court her by leaving the finest of Cadbury chocolates on her desk every morning. His charming British accent is what really won her over. They were married for 44 years and lived in Canaan for 47 years until they moved to Bethany in 2006 to be closer to their grandchildren.
Jerry was an avid reader (he loved the Economist magazine), a history buff, had a passion for jazz music and enjoyed a fun party that included a properly made Manhattan.
There will be no funeral service or calling hours. Memorial donations may be sent to Sandy Hook School Support Fund, c/o Newtown Savings Bank, 39 Main Street, Newtown, CT 06470.
