While WebMd.com says most Americans tend to gain only 1 to 2 pounds over the holidays, the weight-loss commercials start up reliably with the changing of the calendar.

Losing weight tends to be one of the most frequent New Year's resolutions, and gyms see a huge influx of new customers in January only to see the numbers settle back down within weeks.

Will 2013 be different? Are you starting a diet with a commitment to lose a certain number of pounds, or have you decided to eat a more healthy diet whether or not it means losing weight?
