2nd Fire Safety & Prevention Day in Memory of Eva Block

The Woodbridge Fire Department's second annual awareness fair on March 23.

The Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department is hosting the second annual Fire Safety and Prevention Day on Saturday, March 23, in memory of Woodbridge native Eva Ryan Block, who died in a tragic house fire in January 2012 while a student at Marist College.

The new yearly event includes lessons on fire safety, free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, touch-a-truck and a rescue tool and thermal imaging camera demonstration. The Bullex Fire Simulator Trailer is back, as well, which simulates a kitchen fire and teaches residents how to extinguish the flames in the safest way possible.

Fire Safety and Prevention Day will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the engine bays of the Volunteer Fire Department. Admission is free.
