Arrests Made in Connection With Burglaries in Woodbridge and Bethany

Jeffrey Kosko suspected in rash of burglaries in Woodbridge, Bethany, Hamden, and Derby.

Jan 18, 2012, the Woodbridge Police Department arrested two men on weapons charges, one of whom is wanted in connection with several recent burglaries that occurred not only in Woodbridge, but in neighboring communities.

In Woodbridge, detectives had been investigating residential burglaries that occurred on Dillon Road on Jan. 9, Apple Tree Lane on Jan. 11 and Litchfield Turnpike also on Jan. 11.  Each incident occurred during the daytime when the homes, which were unoccupied at the time, were forcibly entered and had assorted jewelry, electronic equipment and other property stolen. Woodbridge detectives, working with detectives from the New Haven Police Dept., the Branford Police Dept., and the Hamden Police Dept. were able to identify a possible suspect and vehicle. 

On Jan. 18 at approximately 5:00 p.m. the Woodbridge Police Department located the suspect vehicle on Rt. 69 near Merritt Avenue. The suspect attempted to flee, but following a minor collision with a police cruiser, the suspect, Jeffery Kosko, and a passenger in the vehicle, Chas Williams, were taken into custody.

Arrested were Jeffrey Kosko, 36, of 225 Glen Haven Road, New Haven, and Chas Williams, 39, of 1560 Whalley Avenue, New Haven. Both were charged with Carrying a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, after a large knife was found in the car. Kosko was additionally charged with several motor vehicle related charges. Kosko was presented in New Haven Superior Court for arraignment on Jan. 19.  Williams was released after posting bond and has a court date of Jan. 30.

Police believe Kosko is involved in numerous recent burglaries in the towns of Woodbridge, Bethany, Hamden, and Derby, and warrants for his arrest pertaining these incidents are pending.

Woodbridge detectives working with detectives from the New Haven Police Dept., and have recovered numerous articles of stolen property taken during the Woodbridge and Bethany burglaries.
