MILFORD – A man camped out at a local cemetery was reportedly attacked by a knife-wielding woman during the early morning hours on Thursday.

Police said the unidentified 56-year-old man was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries to his face, hand and leg. The woman, described as a white female in her early 20s with straight brown shoulder length hair and acne on her chin, was nowhere to be found.

The victim told police that she approached him, struck up conversation and left. She then reportedly came back and attacked him.

The man, Daniel Ardito, 48, allegedly ran from officers who were in the area of Newton Street and Dixwell Avenue on an unrelated threatening complaint. Police caught up with Ardito, located a knife in his pocket and placed him under arrest on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon and interfering with an officer.

Surprisingly, for a man who allegedly failed to appear in court eight times, Ardito was released on promise to appear in court for the Hamden charges. But he was held in lieu of an $80,000 bond for the eight counts of failure to appear.
