Driver Allegedly Smoking a “Blunt” and Doing 81mph in a 45mph Zone; High School Student Admitted to Hospital, Arrested

Apr. 11 at 11:08 a.m., Woodbridge Police pulled over David Gonzales, 18, of Rolling Hills Dr. in Seymour at Rts. 63 and 67. Gonzales was allegedly driving 81mph in a 45mph zone. The officer smelled marijuana and asked Gonzales, who was smoking a cigar, if he had any. Gonzales said he did not, but shortly after admitted he had removed the tobacco from his cigar and replaced it with marijuana, creating what is known on the street as a “Phillie blunt.” Gonzales was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, less than four ounces, and given a misdemeanor summons for speeding. His court date is Apr. 20.

Apr. 13 at Amity Regional High School a male student was called down to the office around noon after numerous complaints about his physical condition and concerns about potential drug use. Once in the office, he became increasingly agitated and aggressive, yelling gibberish and clenching his fists. The police were called, as well as an ambulance. The student was brought to the hospital where he was admitted, and police arrested him there at 4:13 p.m. and charged him with interfering with a police officer and disorderly conduct. He was released on a promise to appear and given a court date of Apr. 26.
