Fewer DUIs Labor Day Weekend, But More Fatal Accidents
Connecticut State Police release statistics for 2013 compared to 2012.
The following is a press release from Connecticut State Police.
Anticipating a higher-than-usual volume of traffic over the Labor Day Weekend, Connecticut State Police used unmarked and marked patrol vehicles, as well as additional manpower, to increase public safety on the highways and secondary roads.
For the purposes of reporting the statistics for this holiday weekend, the “weekend” began at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, and ran through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2.

Compared to 2012, this year there were fewer accidents over the Labor Day weekend, although there were three fatalities compared to just one last year. There were also fewer arrests for DUI and speeding this year, although the number of arrests for other moving violations increased over 2012.
