Flooding in the Flats

Emergency vehicles are busy in Woodbridge; Bradley Road bridge flooded out, basements filling with water

The three inches of rain that fell overnight is causing severe flooding in the Woodbridge flats. The Bradley Road bridge is under water, and access to the other side is blocked.

According to Animal Control Officer Paul Neidmann, District Animal Control (DAC) vehicles are parked at Our Lady of Assumption Church on Rt. 69. DAC employees were able to walk in and get to the shelter, but it is unknown when the water will recede enough to get access to and from DAC by car.

Neidmann said at this point it did not look like the shelter would flood and there are currently no plans to evacuate the animals.

According to Woodbridge Fire Marshall Mike Cavanaugh there is a reported gas leak and engines are at the scene evaluating the situation. Firefighters on the scene said the leak is not inside any of the buildings and no one is in danger.

Firefighters are also assisting several residents in that area with flooded basements.
