The from a memo at the barracks has raised concerns for Gov. Dannel Malloy, who asked the state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection to report back to him on it by Monday, April 2.
An article in the New Haven Register quoted Malloy noting that while he knows State Police usually step up traffic enforcement in the spring, issuing a quota would not be permitted.
Memos from State Police Lt. Anthony Schirillo, which came to light last week, called for increased patrols beginning Friday and promised to buy pizza for the shift at Troop I, the Bethany barracks, with the highest number of tickets.
State law specifically prohibit police departments from issuing ticket quotas.
