David May of Pennbrook Avenue met Hamden police officers at his house with a cigarette lighter in his hand and his house full of a dangerous amount of natural gas, WTNH News 8 reports.
May had threatened to blow up his house after a domestic incident, WTNH reports.
He had cut the gas line to his house, which led to nearby neighbors being forced to evacuate. The neighborhood was in panic, the tv station reports. The street was placed on lockdown briefly.
May was arrested on the scene and is being held on $250,000 bond.
