Oxford Man Charged with Sexual Assault of 15-Year-Old

Police say the 24-year-old man was found in the car with the girl.

A 24-year-old Oxford man has been arrested on a sexual assault charge that police say is related to an encounter he allegedly had with a 15-year-old girl.

Kyle McStravick, of 131 Quaker Farms Road in Oxford, was charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

According to police, McStravick was taken into custody Dec. 4 by the Orange Police Department after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation in their town and found to be wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant from the Woodbridge Police Department.

The warrant stems from an incident that took place at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 9, 2012, when a Woodbridge police officer patrolling the Jewish Community Center located a vehicle in a secluded area of the parking lot, police said.

Upon further inspection, the officer found the vehicle to be occupied by a man, who police identified as McStravick, and a 15-year-old female. At the scene, both occupants of the vehicle claimed to be acquaintances — that McStravick was the girl’s personal trainer — and both stated they were only talking, according to the police report.

At that time, police said, the female was transported to police headquarters, where her parents responded, while McStravick was allowed to leave the scene of his own volition.

While at police headquarters, the female reportedly disclosed to officers that, while in the car, she and McStravick had been involved in sexual activity, which was interrupted when the officer approached the vehicle. Subsequent investigation and interviews led to the issuance of the warrant, police said.

McStravick was released after posting a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Dec. 18.
