Mother's Day Fire in Woodbridge

Home on Penny Lane severely damaged by flames. Tri-town volunteer firefighters respond.

A house fire on Penny Lane turned a day of celebration into a nightmare for a Woodbridge family. The house was fully involved and the fire department called for mutual aid from Bethany.

The Orange Fire Dept. Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) also was called to assist.

Medics had the thankless job of bringing a stretcher up the steep hill to the secluded home.

With no fire hydrants on the street, firefighters had to do water relays, fill up the tanker trucks and then return to the nighborhood to fill portable ponds in order to provide water to the firefighters at the home which was tucked away high on a hill far up the road.

Fire suppression foam was used to help control the fire.
