Orange Police Investigate Fatal Accident (updated 3:15 p.m.)

A 60-year-old man was killed in the accident.

Wayne Davis, 60, died in a fatal motor vehicle accident on Route 34 in Orange Monday morning, police said in a press release.

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. on Derby Avenue and its intersection with Dogwood and Dogburn roads, police said.

Upon arrival officers found two vehicles had collided in the intersection and came to rest on the grassy median just west of the intersection, police said.

An AMR Paramedic on scene found that Davis had suffered grave injuries, police said.

Davis was extricated from his vehicle by the Orange Volunteer Fire Department, police said.

He was transported by the Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The driver of the second vehicle, Lyn Hien Le, 41, sustained minor injuries and was treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said.

The Orange Police accident reconstruction team responded to the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate Davis was traveling south on Dogburn Road crossing Derby Ave when his vehicle was struck on the driver's side by Le who had been traveling west on Derby Avenue, police said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.  Any witnesses are  asked to contact Officer John Reshotnik at 203-891-2130.
