Police: About 30 Units Broken Into at Storage Facility

The Bethany-Naugatuck Self-Storage Center on New Haven Road was broken into Sunday.

 

Naugatuck detectives are investigating a brazen mid-day theft that occurred at Bethany-Naugatuck Self-Storage Center on Sunday, April 21.

About 30 storage units at 1480 New Haven Road (Route 63) were broken into, police say. The thief or thieves allegedly stole tools and other items between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the sunny afternoon.

“It looks like someone cut part of the fence, then cut open locks and took whatever they could grab,” said Naugatuck Police Lt. Bryan Cammarata.

A neighbor noticed a darker orange mid-sized truck – perhaps a Chevy Colorado or GMC Sierra – with newer-style, burnt orange and black New York license plates, Cammarata said.

Police are asking anyone who stores in that facility to contact them to give an itemized of items that may have been stolen.
