Bethany Woman Arrested for Allegedly Threatening Tweet [Updated]

Someone reported the Tweet to the University of Hartford, which in turn notified Connecticut State Police at Troop I.

A 21-year-old Bethany woman was charged with breach of peace in relation to an allegedly threatening Tweet.

Nikita Wynschenk turned herself in at Troop I on March 13. Her bond was set at $500 and she is scheduled to appear in court on March 28.

According to resident Trooper Dave Merriam, Wynschenk is a former student at the University of Hartford. She reportedly made a general threat, via a Tweet, that "she was going to inflict violence on people," Merriam said.

One of her Twitter followers saw the Tweet and brought it to the attention of the University of Hartford Security Office, which in turn notified Troop I, Merriam said.

Connecticut State Police at Troop I say they are investigating a threatening Tweet that originated in Bethany.

The University of Hartford Security Office reported to police that they received a threatening Tweet that originated in Bethany. The incident was reported to police at 12:05 p.m. on March 13.

State Police were not immediately available to discuss any details of their investigation.
