Woodbridge DARE Humvee Gets Makeover

The new look is the work of Platt Tech students.

Platt Tech collision repair students recently completed a three-month project on a Humvee vehicle donated to the Woodbridge Dare Program.

The Humvee is a 1987, and was refurbished by the government in 2005 before becoming surplus and auctioned to the municipalities of Connecticut. The town of Woodbridge received it in its desert sand color.

Platt sanded, prepped, masked and repainted the Humvee semi-gloss black for the DARE program. Collison repair spent about 35 hours of time, disassembling, painting and reassembling the vehicle.

The Humvee was painted with a PPG Industrial Coating material, which is a very hard and durable finish. It was primarily worked on by Junior Karem Romero, Junior Michael Hammett and Senior Kenneth Hill.
