Woodbridge Police Blotter: Woman Arrested for Shoplifting, Man for Check Forging

Woodbridge police say they have arrested an East Haven man responsible for two separate forged-check scams at local banks.

According to reports, Roger Card, 37, twice cashed checks that had been stolen and altered at banks before being identified by surveillance footage. According to the report, detectives investigating the scam got warrants and arrested Card August 22. Unable to post the $15,000 bail, he was arraigned in New Haven Superior Court.

Police say a Stratford woman tried to shoplift over $300 worth of merchandise from  on Litchfield Turnpike, but didn't make it far.

According to reports on the August 27 arrest, Melinda Hudak, 50, was caught with jewelry, sandals and a purse in her pocketbook (totalling $311.) She was released on $500 bond.
