Election 2012: AP Reports DeLauro Wins 3rd District Race Convincingly

It's another term for Democrat Rosa DeLauro, as she defeats Republican Wayne Winsley by a wide margin in the race for Connecticut's Third District

It's another two years for Democrat Rosa DeLauro.

DeLauro, first elected to represent Connecticut's Third District in 1990, was re-elected Tuesday, according to the Associated Press. She defeated Republican Wayne Winsley.

The Hartford Courant reported just at 8:45 p.m. - with just 6 percent of the total precincts reporting - that DeLauro won with 88 percent of the vote.

DeLauro significantly outraised Winsley in campaign donations: She raised more than $1 million and he took in $57,000.

Wayne,
Thank you for running in this race. It was a difficult challenge and beyond the results Republicans in the 3rd Distruct were buoyed by the effort. Wayne has a future in New Haven County and should be proud of the campaign that he ran. Matt Corcoran

Alright Rosa!!! Ct. LOVES YOU!

Rosa is now a real leader among the Democratic House leadership in a body where seniority counts. The fact that she can raise over $1,000,000 attests to that fact. My guess is that most of that money was raised from sources outside her district.
While she will sit with the minority party for the next two years along with the other Democrats who comprise the CT delegation, I hope she will be able to serve her community well.

Opensecrets.org shows 47% in-state and 53% out. The numbers are incomplete, leaving out contributions of less than $200, which, I would guess, come mostly from the people that she actually represents.

I remain in awe of the DeLauro Infrastructure Bank that has again washed dirty money into her personal accounts through her husband's campaign consulting firm, into the DNC general fund to keep her seniority, and into her celebratory banquet kitty, where Rosa and her ghouls will booze and vomit till dawn in the old Roman style.
I remain in awe! But I am not sorry for defying this cesspit of unspeakably evil corruption in the heart of our poor state. Not one bit. Hours of campaign work in biting cold, sometimes alone, often with good-natured companions, occasionally facing off contemptuous critics who more often than not ended a confrontation with a smile and a handshake -- this was nothing to regret. Every chance I got to explain the evil consequences of DeLauro's narrow-minded policies resulted in eyes wide open for the uninformed, or tight-lipped silence from the hardcore sycophant. There was no apathy in telling of Rosa's tale of riches and corruption. My only regret is not witnessing just desserts for a hyperpartisan racist bigoted money-grabbing servant of the Wall Street kingpins. I worry that, following this million dollar haul, Rosa will decide there is no room in her vault for any more dirty, stolen money and retire on the Amalfi Coast in her castello...

Rosa is not a leader in anything except as Minister of Propaganda for the DNC Steering Committee. Her absolute loyalty is to the party, not to the people. She bought her leadership position for $1 million, and has reinforced her "seniority" with another $210,000 cash payment to the DNC last month.
Still, its all for naught as the GOP retains control of the House, leaving super-rich, super-senior Rosa utterly and absolutely powerless. She is persona non grata, utterly despised by colleagues on the other side of the aisle, and avoided by most of her own party as some sort of a ghoul except where her partisan extremism is required to spearhead a bloody frontal attack on her many, many enemies. But who am I to criticise someone who's a multi-millionaire?
Hansa Junchun November 7, 2012 at 02:21 pm
Alright, Rosa. Ct. STILL DOESN'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE!
RONALD M GOLDWYN November 7, 2012 at 02:34 pm
Dear Hansa,
In your posting below, I would be most grateful if you can inform me of the source of your facts and figures. She is your Rep. for better or worse and it may be tomorrow when you may need her help. Why burn your bridges?

I hate politics. It brings out the worst in everyone. I'm glad the elections are over, and I hope people will let it rest before it starts up again.

I'm afraid not, sir. Let's use ex-Senator Dodd as an example:
Senator Dodd's staff helped me in dealing with a federal agency, and I was on intimate first-name terms with some of his people, and I wrote a grateful thanks to him, personally singling out his staff for their good work and overall friendliness. My opinion of him as a legislator and as a personal was and remains exceptionally low, however. He was a filthy crook who was bribed by the biggest banks to bail them out while reaping huge personal rewards. And now he sits as king in Hollywood, lobbying to throw you or me in jail for copying movies. If there isn't a greater figurehead of the corruption of the incumbents who move on to posh jobs after robbing and stealing from us, its Dodd. That is, until DeLauro leaves Congress with her stolen millions and exhibits an entirely new level of corruption in her capacity as a lobbyist. It will happen.

great - another career politician getting fat on our dollar- when will you ever learn - the job is not a lifetime position at the buffet of our lives - she has consumed and be well paid and her lifetime perks are impressive- but what about her job ???
Don Charles November 7, 2012 at 04:48 pm
How about a town employee getting rich on our tax money.
I notice in the new 2012-2013 Legislative Council Budget that the Leg. Council Administrator is now receiving $62,293.77. The council has requested a raise to $69,979.62. In addition this person gets 8,000.00 to attend meeting. The $69,000plus should cover the meetings, Shy does she get an additional 8,000.00. This is for 35 hours work. Okay has anyone gone to the Legislative office and tried the door. It seems to always be locked and this person is always out. I believe 8:30 is the starting time however many mornings the office is empty until 9:00- 9:30. The mayor has also gone along with this raise. Are they kidding us? This is a total waste and this person has not been in this position very long. What is going on?? I am now going through the budget and noticing many large raises, some may be valid but several are questionable. How about it Council and Mayor you have lots of money to spend on plum jobs. You all need to be ashamed.

Shy does she get an additional 8,000.00
This should have read…Why does she get an additional $8000.

Shame? There is no shame. This is the trend! We are a nation devouring itself alive: with no more productive capacity and no more savings, we are totally devoted to consumption and our elected leadership is the guiding light in the march of the public sector leeches.
That's why the only place one can find raises is the public sector. The only place to find bonuses is the public sector. And Wall Street. But they own hundreds of municipalities, so that's nothing new. In the cycle of cannibalizing self-consumption, the high office-holders taught the lower-rung bureaucrats how to leech their host to death. There are no moral persons in office, and precious few challenging them as we saw. Problem is, this is almost impossible to illustrate to the voter. The ferocious cannibal of the peoples' net worth, Rosa DeLauro, is worth millions and millions thanks to stripping us naked and handing it over to the biggest banks and corporations, who in turn got fabulous kickbacks in the form of campaign donations. All the people see is a scarecrow clasping her hands and saying she cares about us and hates the big banks.

5th Grade Annex Building
raaji02 June 13, 2013 at 03:06 pm
A disgrace to the children of our community - INDEED! I completely understand this is "a"Read More situation and was not expected and is being taken care off in the best possible way. However, i just dont get why it took so long to address the root cause of this situation. What does it take for the town, it's admisnistration to value the need for better facilities for our children. Why does it become such a daunting task when all of the assesments have come back suggesting the need to move the kids out of the annex buildings? Wake up town of Bethany, it is in our hands to provide our kids with better infrastructure. We should have done it yesterday, when the building commitee brings forth it's recommendations, it is our turn to di it RIGHT!
Chris Myres June 14, 2013 at 01:12 pm
Heather, thank you for posting this article. My child's classroom is the one pictured above.Read More Everything you have stated is correct. Our children are basically walking on dried toilet water. The administration has a good heart but not a good response. They do the 'bear minimum' for the annex kids who have to deal with the daily torture of their environment.
Tom Cigas June 14, 2013 at 04:24 pm
Heather, VERY well-stated. You hit the nail on the head! These annex buildings ARE a disgrace.Read More They provide neither a healthy environment nor a secure environment for the students and teachers. Whether the Town decides to build another addition to the school or to utilize space at the Middle School (and I'm not so sure that's a great idea), something needs to be done as quickly as possible. If we can afford to replace our old Amity Rd. firehouse with a beautiful, modern edifice, we can afford to do the right thing for the kids.
