Last Chance: Avoid Interest by Paying Taxes Today

Bethany Tax Collector David Forman notifies residents that today, Feb. 1, is the last day to pay taxes without interest.


If you pay your taxes today you'll avoid incurring interest charges.

In a Legal Notice posted at Bethany Town Hall, Tax Collector David Forman states the following:

The second installment of Bethany Real Estate and Personal Property taxes, and the full amount of Motor Vehicle Supplemental tax, become due and payable on Jan. 1, 2013. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, is the last day to pay said taxes without interest. Interest will be calculated from the due date at the rate of one-tenth-and-one-half percent per month (18% per annum). Minimum interest charge is $2.

In accordance with state statute Sec. 12-130, failure to receive a bill does not exempt you from payment of taxes, interest charges, or fees.

Mail tax payments to Bethany Tax Collector, 40 Peck Road, Bethany, CT 06524. Your cancelled check is your receipt — or enclose a postage-paid envelope. Payments may also be made in person at the Tax Collector's office, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (open till 6 p.m. on Wednesdays); or at Webster Bank's Bethany branch during regular banking hours.
