Malloy Tours Bethany with First Selectman Gorski and Sen. Crisco

Governor visits town to view damage done by the October storm.

In the wake of the devastating nor’ easter that knocked out power to a record number of residents, Governor Dannel Malloy visited Bethany to see first hand what the hard-hit community was up against. For many residents, this is their sixth day without power.

The governor first stopped by the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department on Amity Road and discussed repairs with the CL&P representatives who were on site.

"We learned a lot from Irene," Malloy said, "and we'll learn from this and move forward."

First Selectman Derrylyn Gorski said the frustration was not with the repair crews, reps or liaison, but with the CL&P administration, which was not forthcoming with information.

"Our liaison, Melissa Fuller, was here for Irene," Gorski said. "We asked for her back and waited until Monday so we could have her. She's marvelous."

After looking at the map of where the worst damage is located, Malloy accompanied Gorski and Crisco on a tour of the town to see the level of destruction firsthand.
